Fungi can’t produce chlorophyll(green pigment responsible for photosynthesis) and that is why they have been separated into an entirely different kingdom. If they started having chlorophyll in their cells they’d be merged into the plant kingdom.

Answer:

Unlike plant cells, fungal cells do not have chloroplasts or chlorophyll. Many fungi display bright colors arising from other cellular pigments, ranging from red to green to black.
