Materials that are less dense than the liquid they are in will float. For example, an egg floats in salt water because the egg is less dense than the salt water. On the other hand, if an egg is placed in fresh water it sinks to the bottom immediately because the fresh water is less dense.

Answer:

The concept is based on the density of egg.

Explanation:

Density is use to describe the space occupy by an object (volume) with respect to matter (mass).

A boiled egg will sink in the fresh water because density of egg is higher than that of fresh water while a boiled egg will float in a salt water because salt added to water increases the water density in comparison to the egg.
