the metal ball is consisted of many layers.so when we heat the layers expand.
since the layers expand rapidly,the volume of the cavity will increase

A metal ball is a ball with only a thick surface.It has a cavity in it.Now, as you know that metal expands on heating, so the ball will also expand on heating.Hence, it will increase the radius of the ball and then because of this the cavity in it will also increase.
