When guard cells gets turgid [swell] the stomata opens so as to remove excess water stored . This process is called transpiration.

faisalmansoor110: You're wrong, the water is not stored in the guard cells.
ay3633978: Can't u read the answer properly. If u can't then u can't say anything u want. I know that guard cells doesn't store water. They become turgid due to accumulation of K+ ions in them.

Transpiration will occur.

This is because, when. Guard cells become turgid, the stomata opens, and hence, it leads to loss of water, i.e. transpiration occurs.
