What will happen when the holotype is lost?

the holotype has been lost and no other specimen of the species is known. That means that a neotype designation, though desirable in this case, would not be possible for the time being (until you find another specimen of the species).

Yet, the species can be treated as valid, if sufficient characters have been provided in the original description to distinguish it from other species.
