a)Rheo leaf in plain water:
when the cells of rheo leaf are observed under a microscope after the leaf is palced in plain water, these are the observations:
The cells appear plump and turgid than before. This is due to the process of osmosis where water molecules moved into the cells of the rheo leaf. This happens because the plain water is hypotonic to the cell cytoplasm and hence, due to osmosis water molecules will move to this high concentration.
b)Rheo leaf in strong solution of salt:
The process that will take place here is plasmolysis, which is the collapse or shrinking activity of cells due to loss of water. The cells get plasmolysed because the strong salt solution is hypertonic to cell cytoplasm and hence water molecules will move out of the cells into the concentrated solution.
c)Boiled for a few minutes, then kept in salt solution:
There are no changes that are observed on the cells of the rheo leaf. This is because the cells denature due to the action of boiling and are unable to carry out the process of osmosis.
