Given:

Displacement-time graph is provided.

To find:

Nature of motion?

Calculation:

  • The displacement-time graph is a parabolic graph. So, its equation will be :

x = k {t}^{2}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: ...(k \: is \: constant)

  • Now, differentiation w.r.t time :

 \implies \: v =  \dfrac{dx}{dt}

 \implies \: v =  \dfrac{d(k {t}^{2} )}{dt}

 \implies \: v = 2kt

  • Again differentiation w.r.t time :

 \implies \: a=  \dfrac{dv}{dt}

 \implies \: a=  \dfrac{d(2kt)}{dt}

 \implies \: a= 2k = constant

So, the motion is accelerated and non-uniform.
