Salt is soluble in water whereas sand is insoluble in water.This difference in the solubilities of salt and sand in water is used to separate them.

Explanation:

The mixture of salt and sand is taken in a beaker and water is added to it.Then,the mixture is stirred to dissolve the salt in water.Then we separate the mixture by the process of filtration.Sand remain in the filter paper and will separated by the salt solution.

To obtain back salt crystals we will do the process of evaporation.

In this way we can separate the mixture of sand and salt in water.
