hi thank you for asking your question
in order to learn about some ancient site you can do different things first comes the locals of that place, you can ask them the importance of that place another option is to ask some guide of that place they are available in ancient site for the tourists but if you want to learn on your self you can start by reading its history on the internet available
to conserve the place you can publish articles but mostly there are government departments that preserve these places of cultural importance if you see any damage to that place you can inform them
hope this answer helps you

when we visit an ancient site we can follow the given steps below :
--> Every Ancient site has a Historical culture and value , we should first try to know more about it and its importance by interviewing the Other visors, Guides etc.
----> Try to explore the knowledge about the site by asking a guide.
---> Shall ensure to take the photographs or record it with time and date of visit .
---> Usually Government Archaeological department will try to preserve and conserve the monument. If we found any one damaging the property better to inform to nearest concerned government officials about it.
---> After the visit, try to spread the awareness among the general public how important it is to conserve the ancient site by conducting Skits or seminars etc.
