oxidation reaction will occur when 5% of alkaline potassium permaganate is added to the ethanol.  the name of the compound formed is ethanoic acid(acetic acid). we can perform the process of esterification to identify this compound.

when we add alkaline potassium permanganate to bore Mithun all initially the pink colour of potassium permanganate fades away because it provide oxygen to carry out oxidation of Ethanol to ethanoic acid the compound formed is ethanoic acid one the oxidation of Ethanol to ethanoic acid is complete pink colour of potassium permanganate persist on further addition to the reaction mixture
