of sister chromatids

Tetrads are 4 chromatids belonging to a homologous pair of chromosomes. A cell continues to possess the paired state until it completes Anaphase I of meiosis.

So, there is no change in number whatsoever upto the completion of Metaphase I.

Homologous chromosomes appear as tetrads during the Pachytene stage of Prophase I of Meiosis I, for exchange of genetic material between non-sister chromatids. The tetrad stage continues upto Metaphase I of Meiosis I

So, the correct answer is '8 and 8'
