A =2ms²

m =10 kg

F =ma

=2×12

=24kgm5²

=24N

If the mass is double

m =24 kg

F =ma

24 =24×a

a=1ms²

Given :

  • Acceleration = 2 m/s²
  • Mass of the body = 12 kg

To Find :

  • Force = ?
  • What is acceleration if force is double.

Solution :

First of all we need to find the force of the body :

Force is the product of the mass of a body and the acceleration . Force is usually the push or pull of the mass of an object that is accompanied by the motion(acceleration). Force is a vector quantity  because it has both magnitude and direction.

  • Example is when you throw a ball you apply a push, with the mass of the ball and the acceleration computed you can calculate the force applied .
  • Force is measured in Newton or Kg m/s²

Mathematically, force can be represented as

  • Force = mass × acceleration

Now, plug in the given values :

→ Force = 12 × 2

Force = 24 kg m/s² or Newton

  • Hence,the required force of the body is 24 kg m/.

Now, let's find acceleration if force is double :

→ Acceleration = Force ÷ mass

→ Acceleration = 2(24) ÷ 12

→ Acceleration = 48 ÷ 12

→ Acceleration = 4 m/s²

  • Hence,the acceleration produced is 4 m/.
