eficiency of haemoglobin(Hb) is caused by generic mutations. one of your bases in your DNA is changed, resulting a wrong type of amino acid to be placed when Hb is produced, which cause sickle cell anaemia.
It causes less oxygen to be transported around the body causing pain where oxygen levels are low(due to the anaerobic respiration that these cells make(which produces lactic acid))
It is incurable in modern medicine(due to the immaturity of biomedical science) but in the future, this may be cured.
