Answer:

since it is given that 50 gms water at 20 ⁰ C and 50 gms of water at 40⁰ C are mixed. Since the masses of the liquid at different temperatures are same, the answer is very easy and simple : average of 20⁰C and 40⁰C. that is: 30⁰C.

Given:

mass of water - m₁= 50g

Temperature - T₁ = 20°C

mass of water - m₂ = 50g

Temperature - T₂ = 40°C

To Find:

Final Temperature of the mixture - T = ?

Solution:

Formula used:

m₁T₁ + m₂T₂/m₁ + m₂

Applying the above formula to calculate the final temperature of the mixture:

T =\frac{m_{1} T_{1}  + m_{2}T_{2}  }{m_{1} + m_{2} }

T = \frac{50*20 + 50*40}{50 + 50}

T = \frac{1000 + 2000}{50 * 2}

T = \frac{3000}{100}

T = 30°C

Hence, the final temperature of the mixture = 30°C
