The nature of NaCl is neutral, Na₂CO₃ is basic, CH₃COONa is basic, CuSO₄ is acidic, (NH₄)₂SO₄ is acidic and that of Na₂SO₄ is neutral.

(i) NaCl - Sodium Chloride

It is formed on the reaction of Sodium Hydroxide and Hydrochloric acid. Both of these are strong base and acid respectively. Thus, acidity and basicity are nullified and the salt formed is neutral.

NaOH + HCl ⇒ NaCl + H₂O

(ii) Na₂CO₃ - Sodium Carbonate

It is formed on the reaction of Sodium Hydroxide and Carbonic acid. The base is strong whereas the acid is weak. Thus, basicity overpowers acidity and the salt formed is basic in nature.

2NaOH + H₂CO₃ ⇒ Na₂CO₃ + 2H₂O

(iii) CH₃COONa - Sodium Acetate

It is formed on the reaction of Sodium Hydroxide and Acetic acid. The base is strong whereas the acid is weak. Thus, basicity overpowers acidity and the salt formed is basic in nature.

NaOH + CH₃COOH ⇒ CH₃COO⁻Na⁺ + H₂O

(iv) CuSO₄ - Copper Sulphate

It is formed on the reaction of Copper oxide (basic in nature since it is a metal oxide) and Sulphuric acid. The base is weak whereas the acid is strong. Thus, acidity overpowers basicity and the salt formed is acidic in nature.

Cu₂O + 3H₂SO₄ ⇒ 2CuSO₄ + 3H₂O + SO₂

(v) (NH₄)₂SO₄ - Ammonium Sulphate

It is formed on the reaction of Ammonium Hydroxide and Sulphuric acid. The base is weak whereas the acid is strong. Thus, acidity overpowers basicity and the salt formed is acidic in nature.

2NH₄OH + H₂SO₄ ⇒ (NH₄)₂SO₄ + 2H₂O

(vi) Na₂SO₄ - Sodium Sulphate

It is formed on the reaction of Sodium Hydroxide and Sulphuric acid. Both of these are strong base and acid respectively. Thus, acidity and basicity are nullified and the salt formed is neutral.

NaOH + H₂SO₄ ⇒ Na₂SO₄ + H₂O
