If India adopts a state religion, the rest of the people following other religions would not be happy. This decision will cause a huge unrest among them and India may face a huge backlash.

Integrity of India would be at risk due to unrest. Riots would broke across states and huge amount of people will protest again this decision. India would no longer remain a secular country.

Buddhism is the state religion of Sri Lanka.

individuals. In the society and finally, the citizens of the whole country.

b. The minorities will be suppressed by the majority.  

c. It will also prevent the freedom of individuals to exist from their religion and to emprise another  

religion or to interpret religion teachings of his or her religion differently
