India is a secular country. There are many religions in India. People have the freedom to follow any religion of their choice. The Constitution does not discriminate against any religion. So the government is not supposed to support or favour any religion. It has to treat all religions as equal.

If politics is associated with religion it will not be in consonance with the provisions of the Constitution. It will be very harmful if a political party favours one religion and uses it to get more votes. It may lead to conflict between different groups of people based on religious ideology. There may also be violence and disharmony in the nation.

If a political party and religion went in hand to hand then it would be dangerous for everyone but not to them which the party is supporting. But then also some political party supports some religion like indian national congress it supports the Muslim religion. And there is a one more thing that if a particular party is supporting to a particular religion then the development of country will not take place like Congress has done with India . In our country development speed was very slow when the Congress was in majority but now the rate is wellen good because of Bhartiye janta party .
