The following situations may occur if the gametes do not have half the number of chromosomes:

1. The number of chromosomes in the offspring will get doubled if the reduction in the number of the chromosome does not happen.

4. If reduction does not occur, then the offspring cells in the coming generations will have many or large numbers of chromosomes which is not normal.
