Plants will die if they do not get water.

  • One of the characteristic of living things is that they show growth and development. The process of growth requires water for generation of energy.
  • Thus, in absence of water their energy production will stop which sustains the life. The absence of water in plants is visible in the form of wilting. The leaves become limp and plant starts losing colour.
  • Plants are autotrophic and animals are heterotrophic. So, the life of living beings depend on autotrophic plants for food.
  • Thus, absence of water to plants effects the human and animals as well. Similar case is seen in drought conditions, when absence of water results in loss of crops.
