if the plasma membrane breaks or ruptures then there will be no control over the transferring of material from between the protoplasm and the cytoplasm also the plasma membrane is a semi permeable membrane i.e. it allows only some particular material to enter the nucleus. if it breaks down unwanted material can also enter t he nucleus.
