What would happen, if the temperature of the earth increases to its double? How would it effect the lives living on earth?

Currently, the average temperature on earth's surface is 14 C, on doubling this temperature, the temperature would rise to 28 C. Increasing air temperature also affects the oceans, weather patterns, snow and ice.

Hence, this affects the ecosystem as a whole gets affected.

First, photosynthesis would cease as it doesn't take place above 35C, since green plants stop preparing food, that would lead to their death.

Green plants are the producers in the food chain..the herbivores will slowly come to an Extinction and later on the carnivores. Eventually the entire food chain would get affected leading to death of many animals.

Above 55 Celsius, human beings can’t survive, even in shade and with plenty of water.

Hence, life as a whole would get affected if earth's temperature doubled.

(Only thermophiles could have survived as they can withstand high temperatures .)
