Xylem is a water-conducting tissue in plants. It transports water from the roots to the different parts of the plant. If the xylem of the plant is removed, upward movement of water will stop leading to wilting of leaves and ultimately causes the death of a plant. In the absence of water, the plant will not be able to prepare food and also perform other essential activities.

If the xylem of the root of a plant will be blocked, no doubt, the plant will die after some time after the starch is over. This would happen because the xylem transport water and other essential minerals to the leafs of the plants for photosynthesis. Without photosynthesis, there will be no food ,and if there's no food(starch) , the plant will die. The water and mineral plays a major role in Photosynthesis, as it provides energy to plant for recreation and repairing of the damaged tissue.
Hence, this is the consequences of what would happen if the xylem of a root of a plant is blocked.

hope this helps you dear..
