Xylem vessels and tracheids are tubular structures, which allow vertical transport of water and minerals. Vessel cells are continuous, while tracheids are discontinuous. They are both conductive tissues.Xylem parenchyma stores food and conducts water sideways.Xylem fibres are supportive in function.
The plant will not be able to transport water from roots to different parts of plant. Hence it will wilt and ultimately die

If the xylem of the plant root are blocked then the water and minerals would not enter the plant and it can lead to the plant's death.
