For that to happen, the earth should be really upright. The earth is tilted a 20 something degrees and that causes the seasons.
What would happen if the earth was exacly in line with its orbit around the sun is ofcourse speculation although meteorologists have made models with this option. They also created models where the tilt is be 90 degrees (see quora)
The north and southpole would gather gigantic amounts of water in the form of ice. So the sealevel would be a lot lower. No ice-ages. Maybe it would be ice-age forever. The climate would be a lot more stable in most parts of the world having positive and negative effects. All in all there would still be habitable aerea's, and since the moon is still there, there would be wetlands and thus animals would eventually come out of the water. But many species would not evolve for there lifecycle and form interlocks with the seasons. Breeding would be all year round, no need to lay your eggs in spring. No need for hybernation, no migration of animals, etc etc, you can think of all kinds of things that occur due to the seasons and that would not happen if there were no seasons.
I'm no expert but the build up of tremendous amounts of water at the poles worries me the most. It could become unstable with a big moon relatively close. Maybe astronomers can think of what might happen.
