Valves are responsible for blood circulation, an absence of valves will make the circulation highly inefficient.

  • Blood in the veins is under much lower pressure when it returns from the different organs and tissues to the heart and hence has a chance of reverse flow if the valves are not there to avoid it.
  • Apart from preventing blood backflow, valves in the veins help to return blood from the extremities to the heart especially from the feet and legs.
