What would happen if we connect voltmeter in series in the circuit?

when we connect voltermeter in series then there is no proper supply of current in meter
so we connect it in parallel manner so that proper flow of current can flow

they allow a very low amount of current to pass through the meter . else if the resistence is lower the current instead of passing through the desired circuit will pass through the meter .the connecting of voltmeter in series is equivalent to connecting a very high resistance in series with the circuit.
