Non renewable energy resources are those that are limited and they will be depleted someday. They cannot be replaced naturally in a short time. It is estimated that at our present rate of consumption, known World oil reserves will last only 50 years.

Answer:
Fossil fuels are made by the decomposition of the dead remains of plants and animals that died millions of years ago. So, fossil fuels take millions of years to be formed. But, there is a limited number. If we keep using fossil fuels at the rate which we are using today, they will become finished. It would take millions of years for them to be formed again. That is why we are switching to renewable energy.
