Certain substances, like protein and lipid, are important for the formation of the plasma membrane. Hence, the absence of Golgi apparatus will hamper the formation of new cells during cell division.

Golgi body has an important function of modifying, sorting and packaging the proteins which are synthesized by endoplasmic reticulum. Golgi bodies are involved in the formation of vesicles, lysosomes. The cellular secretions are packed in vesicles formed from Golgi bodies and are transported out of the cell. Golgi bodies form the part of the cellular endomembrane system.

Acrosome is a cap-like structure present at the anterior of the sperm. The acrosome is derived from Golgi apparatus. Acrosome is involved in breaking the covering of the egg and facilitating the fertilization.

If Golgi apparatus is absent, these two functions cannot occur.
