The Earth revolves around the sun and rotates in it's tilted axis. This rotation and revolution of the Earth around the sun causes the seasons to change.
If earth won't revolve around the sun, then the rays of light and heat from the sun will only reach to a particular area of the Earth. As a result, some of the Earth's area will totally be dark while another part of the Earth will be full of light rays from the sun.
