What would happen when prokaryotic cells are placed in hypotonic and isotonic solution? ​

When prokaryotic cells are placed in hypotonic solution or will swell or burst...
But when placed in isotonic solution it will neither swell nor shrink it will remain as it is...

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER....

  1. WHEN A CELL IS PLACED IN A HYPOTONIC SOLUTION THEN THE CELL WILL GAIN WATER BY OSMOSIS. BECAUSE THE MEDIUM HAS HIGHER WATER CONCENTRATION THAN THE CELL.
  2. WHEN A CELL IS PLACED IN AN ISOTONIC SOLUTION THERE WILL BE NO MOVEMENT O WATER ACROSS THE CELL MEMBRAME. BECAUSE THE MEDIUM HAS EXACTLY THE SAME WATER CONCENTRATION THAN THE CELL.
