what would have happened if both male and female gametes had been diploid

hey buddy,
the male and female gamates are always halpoid. it means they do not have chromosomes in pairs.
if they would be diploid the number of chromosomes will be increasing generation after generation.and one day there would ne only chromosomes in this world.
