What would have happened if India was not a democracy? Could we have stayed together as a single nation?

We would not stayed together if India was not a democracy .Actually India has a multi religious , multi linguistic and a multi cultural population.If there is not a democracy in India ,there will be conflict between different religions as all the people could not have followed their religion and customs with freedom.Also the minorities group will became insecure as they will live in insecurity and fear.But in India or any other country democracy provide peaceful solution of all these problems..Also It provides the best method of dealing with differences and conflicts.
