meosis is the division which results into haploid cells as human gamets are always haploid if meoisis do not occur it doesnt mean that they would divide by mitosis it can only divide by meosis if it is suspended or arrested than there will be no gamete formation take place i hope you understand now

Hello there!

If meiosis does not occur during production of gamete (sperm cell and egg cell) then the number of chromosomes would increase for every person in every generation.

Example

  • This means that if mother has 10 chromosomes and father has 10 chromosomes then the child (offspring) would have 20 chromosomes. We can see that the number of chromosomes have changed from 10 to 20.
  • Normally, following correct meiosis, the 10 chromosomes of the mother will become 5 and the 10 chromosomes of the father will become 5. So the child (offspring) will have 10 chromosomes. We can see that the number of chromosomes, 10, is maintained.

Through meiosis, chromosome number is maintained the same in humans so all humans, under normal circumstances, only have 23 pairs of chromosomes in real life.

I hope this will help you!
