What would have happened if our bakbone was made of a single bone instead of a number of smaller bones

1.If our backbone was made of a single bone instead of a number of smaller bones,then it would be hard for us to twist ,turn or bend and most of the movements would be restricted.

2.It is because of the vertebral column that we bend and perform most of the movements.

3.Vertebral column has gliding joints between its vertebra which allows us to bend easily.

4.Also would had to sit straight all the time,if there were no smaller bones in vertebral column.
