What would have happened if there was no difference between mitochonfria and plastids?

Well the prevailing theory on how we got mitochondria is a form of this called endosymbiosis. plasitids took in a mitochondrial organism and found the relationship to be beneficial to both, so essentially, those separate plastids and anaerobic unicellular organisms evolve to become a Eukaryota organism living off of the mitochondrial energy.

So if we t back to separation, you'd have photosynthetic algae, and anaerobic, unicellular organisms
