Socket joints that allow two flat bones to slide over each other. There are gliding joints in the foot and wrist. Ball and socket joints allow twisting and turning movements. In a ball and socket joint, one of the bones has a rounded head which is the ball.

  • A ball and socket joint is completely movable joint.
  • It can move in all angles.
  • Some examples of ball and socket joint are-Shoulder joint and Hip joint.

If we would have a ball and socket joint b/w our head and neck we would have  been able to rotate our head in any direction we want which means we could have been able to see back by rotating our head at 180°.

Hope it helps.
