Answer:

Himalayan range protects India from Siberian cold winds in winter. What otherwise would result in snowfall in Northern India and single digit temperature readings in the South of India but for these tallest and longest hill range. Moreover monsoons bring copious rainfall to North India replenishing the Ganges and its tributaries because of the existence of majestic Himalayas. Without Himalayas no river system like Sindhu, Ganges or Brahmaputra can exist which depend on the permafrost at the top of these mountains.
