"Acidity or basicity of a substance can be determined by using indicators.

Some of them are mentioned below:

• Litmus paper: A red litmus paper will turn blue when it is inserted in a base and a blue litmus paper will turn red when it is immersed in an acid.

• Liquid indicators are also used for testing the acidity and basicity of a solution and they indicate the same by specific color changes

• Universal indicator also shows various color change like red for pH 1 and purple for pH 14, thus indicates the acidity and basicity of a solution

• Electronic pH meters track even minute pH changes and are used as indicators
