Hllo friend,

Scattering of light means dispersal of light in different direction. eg. Spectrum where the white light scatters through a prism and into 7 colours.

well, I dont disagree with the previous answer, but to make it a little simpler, :P

When light hits a smooth surface, it is reflected back so we can see them. Eg; mirror
So when light hits a bumpy surface, it is scattered instead of reflecting it in a straight line.
