The colour of ferrous sulphate is green. On heating the colour changes from
light green to white

shreya1268: The ferrous sulphate crystals are light green in colour. The gas emitted has the characteristic odour of burning sulphur. On heating, the colour changes from light green to white. On further heating, the white substance changes to dark brown solid.

Hello!!

Your answer is:

The colour of ferrous sulphate heptahydrate crystals is light green. On heating, the water molecules evaporate to form anhydrous ferrous sulphate of white colour. On further heating, it undergoes thermal decomposition on heating to form red - brown ferrous oxide.

The equation for the reaction is in the above attachment.

Hope it helps you!!
