Cell membrane is a selectively permeable membrane i.e. it allows only selective material in and out of the cell.

In addition, it contains proteins, cholesterol and
polysaccharides.

Transport:
1. Diffusion: The movement of particles from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration until uniform concentration is achieved.

2. Osmosis:Osmosis is the spontaneous net movement of solvent molecules through a selectively permeable membrane into a region of higher solute concentration

In cellular biology, membrane transport refers to the collection of mechanisms that regulate the passage of solutes such as ions and small molecules through biological membranes, which are lipid bilayers that contain proteins embedded in them.
