Invention means to create something new whereas discovery means to make everyone aware of the thing which is already present in nature.

invention is like the creation of some new stuff..like the creation / invention of bulb, telephone, micro/tele scope, etc..

actually dicovery is something like drawing attention to the fact which is already true or present, but yet not known to the folks or is ignored by..like..Discovery of fossils, fuels, minerals, etc..
