This is because there is no atmosphere present in the space  hence there is no material medium therefore sound can't be heard .

Sound needs any material medium to travel,but in space there is vaccum

A.). in outer space there are no particle there is complete vaccum so sound cannot oscillate as they need air particle to get oscillated.
