Two bulbs are connected in parallel with a battery.
Here the sentence, 'The light bulbs are not necessarily identical' indicates that both bulbs are of different resistance
◈ Ammeter is used for measuring current flow in the circuit.
Let total current flow in the circuit be I.
We know that, current divides in parallel connection either equal or unequal (depends on resistance of different branches).
Let current through bulb A be I₁ and through bulb B be I₂.
◈ Reading of ammeters :
- A₁ = I
- A₂ = I₁
- A₃ = I₂
So we can say that, total current of circuit (I) divides in I₁ and I₂.
Therefore, I = I₁ + I₂
Hence, the reading on A₂ will be equal to the reading on A₁ minus the reading on A₃.
