Whats the difference between total marks nd obtained marks?

for example teacher has given u a test of 25 marks then it is total marks and suppose u h
got 24 marks then it is obtained marks .the marks u got is obtained marks

Total marks or maximum marks are terms used to refer to the maximum marks that a student can secure in a test or examination.

Obtained marks refers to the number of marks a particular student has secured in a test or examination.

For example, if the maximum marks in a test are hundred and a student obtains seventy marks. Then, the total marks are hundred and obtained marks are seventy.

However, if a students takes three tests for hundred marks each for an examination and secures fifty, seventy and eighty in the tests, then total marks are three hundred and obtained marks are two hundred.
