hi
The Astronaut Candidate selection process was developed to select highly qualified individuals for human space programs. Astronaut Candidates are selected on an as needed basis. Both civilian and military personnel are considered for the program.
Astronaut Selection. Qualified Applications reviewed to determine Highly Qualified applicants. Qualifications Inquiry form sent to References of Highly Qualified applicants. Initial Interviewees brought to Johnson Space Center for initial interview and activities.
Applicants who are being considered as finalists for an interview may be required to obtain an Astronaut physical. A week-long process of personal interviews, medical screening, and orientation will be required for both civilian and military applicants under final consideration.
