WhatsApp has become an important part of our lives.
a) Businesses are using this for passing information to group of people.
b) Individuals are using this to mainly send greetings to their relatives/friends.
c) People are sending their wedding invites on WhatsApp.
d) People are sharing their status by posting pictures to the places they visited.
e) Best part is sending live location or location of a particular place or so.
All this because Internet charges has become almost Nil. WhatsApp was always free.
How it is affecting us -
We are getting addicted to this. On the one hand it has made our lives easy but on the other our screen time has increased a lot.
Relationships have become virtual. Instead of inviting someone in person , a WhatsApp invite is sufficient. Though I know many person who won’t come on a Whatsapp invite only.
Information can be passed on easily to a group of people. Side effects- even the rumors can be spread like wild fire.
For good or bad , WhatsApp is going to stay. A better version may come in future but for current it is become a necessary addiction.
