Negative acceleration is called deacceleration or ratardation. It means explained below:
usually the velocity increases when acceleration tekes place i.e. intial velocity is less than final velocity .But sometimes the speed decreases with time i.e. deceleration in it initial velocity is more than final velocity.
THE RATE OF DECREASE IN VELOCITY PER UNIT TIME IS CALLED DECELARATION.
