When the base reacts with an acid, it gets neutralized and salt and water are formed.

This is called the neutralization process.

Example:

NaoH +Hcl = Nacl +H2O

Here when NaOH (base) is reacted with HCL (acid) then NaCl (salt) and H2O is produced
