Iron  +  Arr   ⇒    Iron oxide

0.28     xgr                0.40gr

According to Law of conservation of mass

Total mass of Reactants=Total mass of products

                         0.28+x=0.40

                          x=0.40-0.28

                     x=0.12grams

therefore; Weight of oxygen=0.12grams
